📄 Product Introduction: Benzene
Benzene: Cornerstone of Aromatic Petrochemical Industries

Benzene is the simplest and most fundamental liquid aromatic hydrocarbon, used as an industrial solvent and, more importantly, as a precursor for the production of many basic chemicals. This product is derived from petroleum cuts (catalytic reforming) or steam cracking and plays a vital role in the polymer value chain.
Key and strategic applications of Benzene include:
- Production of Ethylbenzene & Styrene: About 50% of global Benzene is consumed for the production of Polystyrene (PS) and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS).
- Production of Cumene & Phenol: Raw material for phenolic resins and adhesives.
- Production of Cyclohexane: The main precursor for the production of Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 (synthetic fibers).
Iran’s export Benzene product has very high purity (99.9%) and negligible sulfur content, making it ideal for sensitive catalytic processes.

🛢️ Packaging & Shipping
✔
Bulk Vessel:
Primary export method for volumes of 1000 to 5000 tons. Transport by chemical tankers equipped with heating systems (if needed in cold seasons).
✔
ISO Tank:
Best method for smaller volumes (20-24 tons). Use of insulated tanks to prevent product freezing (freezing point 5.5 °C).
⚠
Important Note (Freezing Point):
Benzene freezes at 5.5 °C. All transport equipment and tanks must have temperature control capability or adequate insulation.

⚠️ Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) — Benzene
🧪 Product Identification
Product Name: Benzene
Chemical Formula: $C_6H_6$
CAS Number: 71-43-2
🔥☢️ Main Hazards (Crucial)
Severe Fire Hazard: Flash point -11 °C. Vapors heavier than air.
Health Hazard: Carcinogen. Long-term contact can damage bone marrow and cause blood cancer. Toxic if swallowed or inhaled.
➕ Emergency Measures
- Inhalation: Immediately move casualty to fresh air. Administer artificial respiration if needed.
- Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing immediately.
- Fire Fighting: Dry powder, foam, CO2. Water may be ineffective (due to lower density of Benzene).
📦 Storage
Conditions: Very strong ventilation. Tanks must be earthed. Use of explosion-proof (Ex-proof) equipment is mandatory. Keep away from oxidizing agents.
